I'm happy to announce that my second album as a leader Point in Time is out today March 1, 2019! You can find it available on iTunes and CD Baby. Point in Time is the follow up release to Australian guitarist Nic Vardanega’s 2014 debut, Inverno. The aptly titled recording serves as an updated snapshot of the guitarist’s aesthetic, influenced by two years of living in New York City and experience in its jazz scene. In Vardanega’s own words... “The title of this recording, Point in Time, has become a motto for me as an artist. Recently, I’ve become intrigued with the idea of jazz, creative music and all art being really a representation of a point in time. In other words, a fixed, frozen reference point that is both a culmination of one’s whole life and a departure point for further growth. It is hence an artist’s duty to embrace each stage along the way and to realise the purest vision in each moment." The new record comprises a new ensemble format that departs from his debut release. Featured on five tracks is renowned New York City based trumpeter Michael Rodriguez. The Grammy nominated trumpeter/composer has established himself as one of the leading voices in jazz today having performed with Charlie Haden’s Liberation Music Orchestra, Chick Corea, and Lincoln Center Orchestra to name a few. Rodriguez is also a current member of iconic pianist Kenny Barron’s critically acclaimed quintet and a co-leader of latin jazz ensemble the Rodriguez Brothers.
